ROUND 4 OF SHIELD COMPETITION AT NUNAWADING ON THIS SATURDAY
Round 4 of shield competition will be held at Nunawading on this Saturday, November 14.
The program starts at 1:30pm (1:00pm for the hammer throw). The order of events will be, walk, hurdles, 200m, 800m, 4x400m relay, 5000m (3000m for U18/U16). The field events will be hammer throw, shot put, high jump, triple jump.
See the attached timetable.
This is the same program that will be used for the shield finals (except all divisions run the 3000m in the finals instead of 5000m), so this is an opportunity to do several events and be qualified for the finals.
RELAY CHAMPIONSHIPS
The state relay championships will be held at Lakeside Stadium on Saturday, November 28. We are hoping to enter teams in all age groups. Please let us know as soon as possible if you are available to take part in this event so that we can enter the appropriate teams.

ROUND 4 OF SHIELD COMPETITION AT NUNAWADING ON SATURDAY WEEK
Round 4 of shield competition will be held at Nunawading on Saturday week, November 14.
There are still a number of registered athletes who have not competed in the first three rounds. Remember that you must compete in at least 3 rounds of Shield Competition in order to be eligible to compete for the Club in the finals. We also need more athletes taking part to make sure that all our teams make it to the finals!
THANK YOU TO OUR VOLUNTEERS
A big thank you to all those who have helped as volunteer officials over the first 3 rounds of shield competition. Box Hill has helped run the pole vault in round 1, the triple jump in round 2 and the discus in round 3. If we get enough volunteers, then each person will only have to help out once throughout the season.
ALL SCHOOLS CHAMPIONSHIPS
Good luck to all the Box Hill athletes who are competing in the Victorian All Schools Championships this weekend. Hopefully Box Hill competitors can win a swag of medals!

ROUND 3 OF SHIELD COMPETITION AT CASEY FIELDS THIS SATURDAY
Round 3 of shield competition will be held at Casey Fields in East Cranbourne, this Saturday, October 31. This is also a zone versus zone competition, so the competition will include blue zone athletes as well as white zone.
Although it is some distance to travel for most athletes, Casey Fields is a nice facility and we need as many athletes as possible competing to make sure our teams make it through to the shield finals at the end of the season.
The program starts at 1:30pm (1:00pm for the long jump).
Please allow yourself plenty of travel time.
See the attached program of events.
YOUR HELP IS NEEDED
There are a number of ways that you can help the Club and help the summer competition run smoothly. All help no matter how great or small is highly appreciated.
- We need volunteers to help out on shield competition days. This may involve helping to record results or measuring throws or raking a sandpit. If you can help please let us know and we will organise a roster. Even if you can just help once for a few hours, let us know.
- We need team managers! This is not an onerous task, but it does mean being present for the whole afternoon on most weeks of shield competition. Please let us know if you can help.
LOST AND (HOPEFULLY) FOUND
A diamond pendant was lost at the training last week. If anyone has seen it, please let us know so that it can be reunited with its owner.

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED
There are a number of ways that you can help the Club and help the summer competition run smoothly. All help no matter how great or small is highly appreciated.
1. We need volunteers to help out on shield competition days. This may involve helping to record results or measuring throws or raking a sandpit. If you can help please let us know and we will organise a roster. Even if you can just help once for a few hours, let us know.
2. We need team managers! This is not an onerous task, but it does mean being present for the whole afternoon on most weeks of shield competition. Please let us know if you can help.

TRIVIA NIGHT A GREAT SUCCESS!
Thank you to Grace Brown, who took on the role of Trivia Night organiser this year, to our MC, James, to Barbara Johnson and Angela Robbie, who helped out in many ways, to Marcus Johnson who did a great job as scorer on the night, To everyone who helped in the set up of the hall, to our sponsors and those who donated goods for the silent auction and thank you to all those who came along on the night and made it a success.
The Club raised about $4,000 and importantly it seems that everyone had an enjoyable evening.
MELBOURNE MARATHON
Congratulations to everyone who took part in the Melbourne Marathon Running Festival.
There were some great efforts by Box Hill marathon runners.
The amazing John Meagher finished 13th in a time of 2:32:26 and easily won the over 50 years age group. Trent Collins ran 2:49:54, Luke Crozier 2:54:37, Peter Stefanos ran a huge PB to finish in a time of 2:59:26 and Simon St. Hill ran 3:39:21. (Former Club member Chris Bradford ran 2:45:09)
There are two other efforts in the marathon that deserve special mention.
Neville Gardner completed his 38th consecutive Melbourne Marathon in a shade over 6 hours. Neville has completed every Melbourne Marathon since its inception in 1978.
Dion Finocchiaro was in 7th place at the 40km mark, heading for a time of about 2:23. With about 500m to go he collapsed. After an hour and a half of medical treatment and re-hydration, he completed his lap of the MCG to finish the marathon 4:00:29.
In the half marathon, Klarie McIntyre finished 19th in a time of 71:51, while Julie Norney was the 10th woman across the line (and first in her age group), running 80:09.
The 10km race was won by former Box Hill athlete, Harry Summers, in 28:58. James O’Connell was 9th in 32:23, Peter Green 11th (32:33) and Bouchaib Chefnaoui 12th in 32:52

- The white zone needs a scorer. This is a paid position. ($80 for each round of shield). If you are interested we can send you the job description.
