TAN RELAY RESULTS

A mix up at the 3rd changeover meant that Box Hill dropped from 3rd to last place in the men’s premier division race at the Tan relays last Saturday. With one runner “gone missing” the running order was quickly rearranged, while Matt O’Donnell waited in the change-over zone for a team mate to appear. Fortunately our last 3 runners were able to lift the team back up to 7th place, enough to secure the XCR’16 premiership.

Our women’s premier division team just missed the medals and finished in a creditable 4th place.

TAN RELAYS ON SATURDAY WEEK

The final event of the XCR’16 winter season will be the Tan Relays on Saturday morning, September 17. This is usually the biggest event of the winter season. Please let us know if you are available to run as we hope to enter teams in all age groups.

The men’s events start at 9:00am (except U16, U14), the women’s events (plus men U16, U14) start at 9:05am.

Box Hill needs to supply 3 club helpers to be official timekeepers for the U20 men’s event. Please let us know if you can help.

We also need club timekeepers for all our other teams, so let us know if you can be a timekeeper one of our teams.

BOX HILL WRAPS UP THE TITLE AT BURNLEY

Box Hill runners put in a great performance at the Victorian Half-Marathon championships at Burnley. Although our men’s premier division team narrowly lost the team’s competition, 2nd place was enough to almost ensure a premiership win (we only have to finish a team at the Tan relays to take the title). Incredibly Box Hill men’s teams won division 2 and division 4 and division 6 and the over 50s competition, placing 2nd in division 7.

Our women’s premier division team also did well, finishing 4th.

See Ian Sloane’s extensive report below.
