The XCR’18 season started with a bang at the cross country relays at Jells Park on April 21, with about 1000 runners including seven Commonwealth Games athletes competing.

The Box Hill winter season was launched with the annual club 5km handicap event, along the bike tracks of Gardiners Creek.
Congratulations to Nana Owusu-Afriyie, who has been selected to compete in the World Junior Championships in Finland in July.
Box Hill’s own Commonwealth Games representative Georgia Griffith is our guest speaker for the club’s AGM and presentation night on 27 April.
The XCR’18 season begins with the cross country relays at Jells Park, Wheeler’s Hill, on Saturday week, April 21.
Box Hill’s Georgia Griffith raced courageously at the National Open Track and Field Championships on the Gold Coast last weekend, claiming second in the 800m and cementing her place in the Commonwealth Games team.
Seven Box Hill teams are in the top two and two are in the top three, with one round remaining before AV Shield Finals.
Round 10 of AV Shield was delayed a day due to heat, and held on Sunday at two venues – Lakeside Stadium and Knox.
Despite the inclement weather, we managed to get through the whole program and there were some outstanding performances – including two new club records! Congratulations to Mac Anderson, who ran 9:06.2 for 3000m to break the U15 club record and to Anastasia Purcell whose time of 56.00 broke the club 400m record for the U16 and U17 age groups.
Runners Tribe has interviewed our very own 800m star Georgia Griffith and Nikki Chapple, who is the club record holder for 5000m, 10,000m and marathon.
