THANKS FOR DOING THE SURVEY
Thank you to everyone who completed the Club’s online survey. We received 102 responses and an analysis of the results will be in this year’s Annual Report.
An initial viewing of the survey results seem to present some common themes which are summarised below: (ratings are a maximum of 5.00,where 5.00 is very good):
The XCR season was rated highly at 4.62 and there are no major issues (one person noted that Sydney’s City2Surf is very popular so don’t hold events that clash with it)
The AV Shield season was rated 3.99. The strong consensus was that there are not enough rounds – only 5 respondents wanted fewer rounds, with 65% of respondents wanting 11 or 12 rounds – some wanted even more, right up to Easter each year
Over 80% of respondents were happy to have more Shield rounds at the expense of the Knockout competition
Not surprisingly, Box Hill was the most preferred venue for Shield rounds and Casey Fields was least preferred (now that Box Hill has a new hammer cage, AV Shield rounds can be scheduled at Box Hill in 2016/2017)
Zone vs Zone was rated 3.49 and generally considered too busy, crowded, hard to book events unless done in advance online (one person arrived 90 minutes before the first field event and couldn’t get into an event until 5 hours later!), too long – the number of people meant that it always ran late and officials were stretched. The very strong view is that it should be discontinued – members are interested in their Club, not their Zone
Knockout was rated 3.30 which is less than the unpopular Zone vs Zone and the strong view was to replace it with more Shield rounds or competitions like the popular Milers Club.
Milers Club – everyone loves it – it was rated 4.89 and it appears to be the most popular competition – no significant changes to it were suggested
Rare Air was rated 4.56 but only 10 respondents had competed in it. Some suggested adding high jump to the evening’s events
The best aspects of the Club were stated to be – friendly, good track and coaches, good team spirit, welcoming, good athletes and a diverse range of ages, good facilities and history, strong community feel about the Club
Aspects of the Club that could be improved included better facilities (not well kept, untidy, toilets not good), working bees to address this, some track resurfacing is needed (eg long jump runway), gym to be cleaned up with better equipment, better communication with members about the Club’s plans, changes to the uniform, attract more members perhaps using social media, get more sponsorship and promote what is one of the best athletic clubs in Australia
Preferred spending is on the gym/equipment and shade cloth, although other matters come very close behind
There is a strong desire to get AV Shield rounds back to Box Hill in 2016/2017
