MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
We hope that everyone associated with the Club has a happy Christmas and we wish you all a happy and successful new year.
ROUND 8 OF SHIELD COMPETITION ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 9 AT NUNAWADING
Shield competition will resume after Christmas on Saturday, January 9. Round 8 of shield will be held at Nunawading. Some people will be away in January, so those of you who are available to compete on this day, please make a special effort to be there. This program will be the same as that used for the finals (200, 800, 3000, 3000 walk, 400 hurdles, 4x400m, shot, hammer, high jump, triple jump) so this is a great opportunity to do all the events that you might be needed for in the finals.
SHIELD FINAL ON FEBRUARY 6
With three rounds of shield competition remaining before the shield final, most Box Hill teams look set to finish in the top two and qualify for the final on February 6.
Remember to compete for your team in the final you must have competed in at least three rounds of shield competition and have competed at least once in that particular event.
Men Open Division 1
In Division 1, we are second on the ladder. It has been a close three-way tussle this season between Nunawading, St. Kevin’s and Box Hill. We has a nearly full strength team in the last round and won but we need to make sure we continue to fill all the events including the jumps, walks and hurdles.
Men 40+
Our team in on top of the ladder and hopefully we can win the Association Premiership this year after going close several times in the past.
Men U18
We have a very strong under 18 team, with some outstanding athletes, but our numbers are a bit low, so we need all our under 18 boys competing to try to cover all the events. Currently the team in second on the ladder.
Men U16
Our under 16 boys are third on the ladder and will need some good results over the last three rounds in order to make the finals. Hopefully all our under 16 boys will take part in the last three rounds of shield.
Women Open Division 1
Our division 1 women’s team are on top of the ladder, but we need to make sure we get everyone qualified for the finals, where the competition will be very tough.
Women 40+
Our over 40 women’s team are on top of the ladder and hopefully can repeat the premiership win they had last year.
Women U18
The under 18 girls are on top of the ladder and hopefully can cover every event so that they have a good chance in the finals.
The under 16 girls are also on top of the ladder and if we can find some athletes to do the hammer throw and the walk, they should be hard to beat in the finals.
