The official opening of the redeveloped track at Hagenauer Reserve took was held in the clubrooms on Saturday 11th October 2008.
A large number of guests and club members gathered in the rooms to celebrate the occasion, including Anna Burke – Federal Member for Chisholm, Kirstie Marshall – State member for Forest Hill, Robert Clark – State Member for Box Hill, Cr Robert Chong and Cr Helen Harris – local ward councillors, committee members of the Box Hill Athletic Club and Box Hill Little Athletics Centre and Life Members of the Box Hill Athletic Club.
Club President, Colin Organ outlined the contribution made by club volunteers and council officers to bring the project to a successful conclusion and thanked the Council and State Government for their financial contributions.
The Mayor of the City of Whitehorse, Councillor John Koutras responded by congratulating the CLub on its recent successes and contribution towards the improvment of the facilities at the reserve.
The Mayor was then joined by Kirstie Marshall, State member for Forest Hill, Colin Organ and Stuart Miller, President of the Box Hill Little Athletics Centre to assist in unveiling a plaque to recognise the official opening of the redeveloped track.
The Mayor then fired a gun to start the first event of a special athletics program held to commemorate the event.
