SHIELD FINALS AT ALBERT PARK ON THIS SATURDAY
The Interclub Shield Finals will be held at Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park on this Saturday, February 16.
The program runs from 10:00am till 7:00pm.

AUSTRALIA DAY HONOURS
They say that you have to learn to walk before you can run, and Nathan Brill certainly showed that he is very well versed in both! An Australian representative in race walking Nathan was First U17 in the Australia Day 10km Fun Run on the Mornington Peninsula in the impressive time of 34.55! Nathan was 4th across the line. Other line honours went to Julie Norney winning the 10km Open Female category in 37.23; June Petrie winning the 45+ Female category in 39.34 and Andrew Hester winning the 5.3km Open Male Category in 18.31. Australia Day Medals also went to 5.3km competitors Laughlin Norney 3rd U17 20.05 and Charmaine McNally 5th Open Female 23.59.
JAPAN BECKONS
Returning to Japan for the Kagawa Marugame ½ Marathon on 3 February, Nikki Chapple put in a great race to place 8th in 70.34. The race was won by Ethiopian Tiki Gelana in 68.53. Gelana made it back to back wins in the event, won the London Olympic Marathon and was recently crowned the AIMS / ASICS World Athlete of the Year 2012. Nikki has a good track record at Marugame event winning the 2010 race in 68.37, a touch faster than Gelana’s 2013 time.
BROOKE HITS THE HEIGHTS
Congratulations to Brooke Logan (Condon) who finished 2nd in the Empire State Building run up in New York City. Brooke ran up the 86 flights of stairs in 12min 48secs, to finish 2nd to another Australian, former Commonwealth Games representative Suzy Walsham.
